What is this big craze over the pH level in the water we drink? The bottled water business is a multi-billion dollar business. It has not been to long ago we experienced a paradigm shift from tap to bottled water. Drinking tap water has become somewhat taboo with all the chemical additives not to mention the thought of the recycling process (recycling bathroom water into drinking water, ugh). You may have heard these terms used before I had no idea what they meant: pH level, alkaline, and acidity. What are the health benefits in drinking alkaline water? Why not drink acidic water? Well, I have attended a couple of seminars and did a little research on my own to see what all this fuss about the pH level of our drinking water.

However, it has been chemically treated to make it neutral. Anything above 7 is alkaline. This means the pH reading is more alkaline and is an oxygen rich fluid. If you look on the label of some of the bottles you will notice the source of the water is PWS. This stands for Public Works System this means the source of the water is same source as your tap water - municipal water. The only difference is it has been "purified" whatever that means. So, I started "purifying" my own tap water by boiling it and saved some money. It is recommended that you use a carbon filter to "purify" your tap water and save yourself some money not to mention filling up the landfills (that is another story).
